AIGA Portfolio Review

On April 6th will be going to the AIGA portfolio. First things first, make sure you've registered online. I noticed this morning that session 2 is sold out already. So go now to register!

We'll leave at 8:00am on that Saturday morning from the Art Parking lot. So, be there at 7:50. We won't have time to wait around.

As for the portfolio, I'm happy to look over your work with you before you go. You'll see many different formats of portfolios: traditional leather/faux leather portfolios, brief-case style, posters mounted to boards, ipads, laptops. If you are using an iPad or laptop make sure that you have a good charge. Also, attempt for a seamless transition from piece to piece (i.e., don't open up the files natively in PS or AI). Take multiple copies of your resumé and business cards. Spell check!

We'll go to lunch together after the portfolio review, so bring some cash if you want to eat. Should be fun!

I was wondering if there was a student you would recommend that might be willing to help me come up with a logo for a volunteer program we are starting to connect American Families with new International Students. The program is called the MAP program (My American Parents). I just need something simple to use in advertising. So, if there is anyone who might just want to add something to their profile please let me know.

Deposits Due

Don't forget that, if you are going to New York this J-Term, deposits are due at the cashier's window in Thurmond Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 24th. Make the check out to OBU and place NYCART in the memo.

Road Trip

On Tuesday, October 30th, the Ad Design and Typography classes will be going to Funnel Design Group, an ad agency in OKC. Check out their site.

I think you'll recognize much of their work. Chris Lee, an old friend of mine, will be giving us a tour/talk.

Welcome Back

I trust each of you had a wonderful summer. It's been slow around here this summer, and I'm ready to have students back on campus.

Walter has been hard at work in the Mac Lab getting software up to date. When you return to classes, we should have CS6 and the newest version of the Mac OS.
